Oh me! Oh life! of the questions of these recurring,
Of the endless trains of the faithless, of cities fill’d with the foolish,
Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?)
Of eyes that vainly crave the light, of the objects mean, of the struggle ever renew’d,
Of the poor results of all, of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me,
Of the empty and useless years of the rest, with the rest me intertwined,
The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life?

That you are here—that life exists and identity,
That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.

This is one of my favourite scenes between Lucas and Ros. Lucas is overwhelmed by emotion because of Connie’s revelation and her subsequent death and not afraid to show this emotion in front of Ros, because he trusts that she will not demean him or make fun of him. And Ros is very gentle with him, aware of the depth of emotion Lucas is feeling. It’s nice to see how much they trust and rely on each other.

Lucas North: Can’t think why Nightingale haven’t tried to recruit you.
Ros Myers: It’s been gnawing away at me as well.
Lucas North: I bet it has. Let’s see what Lindemann has to do with all this. *Looks at Ros*
Ros Myers: You going in, then?
Lucas North: *Frowns at Ros as he leaves*
Ros Myers: *Watches him leave with an sly grin*

Love this little exchange between them and everything that happens after it. I so wished that Ros had survived that explosion, I think season 9 would’ve been sooo interesting for these two.
